Aylanna

So recently I did something that was amazing to me, I photographed a baby. Baby Alyanna who’s a couple months old is a beautiful little girl who was as sweet as candy to deal with. She cried when she first got here had her bottle and then laid there eyes wide open just looking around and admiring the sites. This was fun and I look forward to the next baby session. Butterflies

So about a week ago I went to the Butterfly Place, in Westford Ma, aside from the place being a 1000 degrees it was really cool. I must say though as beautiful as butterflies are they are still bugs, and to have bugs landing on you and catching a ride is still strange. These butterflies are huge, the are about the size of sparrows, and they are all over the place. Butterflies are amazing creatures, and capturing them was fun, and tough every time you’d get them in focus they would fly away. Well I hope you enjoy the pictures and if any of your friends like butterflies send them the link to the site, this site is made for everyone to enjoy.

Day at The Zoo

So a while back I went to the Franklin Park Zoo in Boston (think it’s Dorchester) well either way I love zoo’s. Well truth be told any establishment that holds exotic animals I love. This day was no exception, it was unbelievably hot, but it was wonderful either way. While I was there I had an AMAZING interaction with a bird, the bird is fairly large, has a brown body and pink head, you will see it in a minute, well look close in it’s mouth it has the leg of a baby bird of some type. Well me being the screw around that I am stuck my hand out and said “Gimme” the bird waddled over stuck his beak through the fence and tried giving me the bird leg. I know some of you reading this probably think I am nuts (probably right) but I had at least 10 people laughing that the bird was following me from one side to the other every time I asked it for the bird leg in it’s mouth. HILARIOUS! I had a blast at this zoo and am definitely going back. Well I hope you guys enjoy let me know what you think!

BRUINS WIN THE CUP!!!

Well I must say I am not glad that it has been basically a month since I have both last written and last posted. Sorry about that but between making up a modeling class, and getting my 3 images ready for my gallery at graduation I have been going crazy. Let me tell you printing images isn’t as easy as you would think, well not when you expect your images to be museum quality. Basically it is a lot of trial and era but when you are finished it is well worth it. However when you are on a deadline, the Bruins win the Cup, and you are making up a modeling class which requires the images be flawless you (well I) fall behind. No excuse I know, and I hope you don’t hate me for it and I really hope that you enjoy the images I took after the B’s won the cup.

It was a wonderful night beautiful, warm, and ELECTRIC!!! The front of the Garden (yeah I ain’t a yuppy I’ll never call it by anything else) was sectioned off by more police then I have ever seen. Like people were going to storm the Garden, on the other side of the fence was at least 5 thousand screaming partying Bruins fans. I was in Boston in 2008 when the C’s won their first championship in decades and WOW what a different atmosphere. The crowds were rowdy people were breaking windows smashing car windows and cops allowed it to happen for a good 30-45 minutes. However the night the B’s won man the cops were smiling people were high 5ing and the was just this air of joy. No violence no lets ruin peoples property because our team won. The cops were so cool that night people were setting fireworks off and the cops just watched. Now I will say there were some bad apples as you will seen in some of these pictures, but I spoke to an officer at 11:45 from the Boston PD and he informed me there had been no arrests at that point.

Now this blog is for photography not politics, however if i didn’t at least voice my displeasure with the use of riot police I wouldn’t be being honest to you guys. There was a whole bunch of officers in ninja suits all blacked out all bug eyed staring down everyone who wasn’t a cop. I am all for police safety, and I completely understand their need to protect themselves from an attack, or thrown bottle. What I don’t understand is their attitude towards average citizens and their disdain for freedom. When I asked them simple questions how was your night, how about the B’s after all these years finally winning the Cup, I got one of two responses either “get away from me, or just a stare that said if I could I would smash you with this club.” This is a problem in my eyes, yes police do have a job to do, but they are police not military, they are citizens granted the power to enforce the law. Our country has become so divided, it’s us versus them in everything cops, everyone else, Republicans vs. Democrat, Young vs Old, specific race against every other race, I could continue, but seriously we are all Americans. We are all in this together, yes this is a blog for photography and I’m sorry for this rant but damn on a night the B’s win the Cup can’t all of us be friendly? Why can’t we just be some what friendly anyway? Why can’t we all just be happy that we live in a semi-free country? I mean look around the globe Japan is in nuclear meltdown, Chinese can’t express themselves. In middle eastern countries woman can’t drive. We have it pretty good here, ALL I AM SAYING IS WHETHER YOU HAVE A BADGE, OR DIFFERENT COLR SKIN, OR DIFFERENT RELIGION, WE ARE ALL AMERICAN REMEMBER THAT NEXT TIME SOMEONE IS ATTEMPTING TO BE NICE TO YOU, BE NICE BACK.

Sorry for the rant I will do my best to keep my thoughts short and sweet from now on but this had to be said. I hope you enjoy the pictures.
Sincerely,D

Imagery from the devastation created by a tornado that was born out of a once in a life time storm that hit and completely devasted some small comunitities in western MA. ©D.Z. Photography All Rights Reserved

Devastated!

So on June 1st 2011 the state of Mass was hit with devastating thunderstorms, during these a few tornadoes popped up and demolished a few cities in western Mass. I went out there Monday of this week (June 6th 2011) to check out and document the destruction. I was not ready for what I seen, here in my state one known for snow storms, a tornado ravaged the town of Monson. The tornado tore through this town tearing apart beautiful historical homes, churches trees cars everything. The tornado literally up rooted a home which you will see in these photos and moved it completely off the foundation. There was some beauty not in the carnage, but in the people. ALL the people of the area came together to help one another out. There was no Government agency out there that I seen there was people like you and I people who were genuinely helping because they cared, yeah red cross was there but to be honest it seemed like they were just passing out water and collecting money. It was the people they put aside all their differences put aside their beliefs and just helped. It was a very moving situation, and I think more people from the Boston area should try to do their part. I hope you enjoy the photos but remember people lost their lives in this storm. If you can please offer and help these people out they need us!

What a Great Experience!!!

So part of school was to do something called practicum, it was basically the school’s way to throw us into the real world with a real client but we did’t get paid. The school gave us a list we chose 3 and the school chose which one we were going to do. The process was like a job meet the client all of which were non-profits in dire need of help. Write a contract have them sign off then bust your ass. Well I got a dance company called Prometheus dance, www.prometheusdance.org (check them out)(my work is on their site too) I went in there not knowing a thing about dance, which scared the people that ran it and I busted my ass determined to prove myself and my skills. Well, this is what I did tell me what you think, oh and the owners were very pleased which was the best thing to me because when it comes down it all I truly care about is making my client happy!
